More than a decade ago, an old miracle-working doctor offended the powerful and eventually retired to the mountains, disappearing from the world. No one could find him.
The old doctor had a prized disciple who, one day while gathering herbs on the mountain, came across a little apprentice and took them in.
The old doctor was quite gratified. His own disciple was finally ready to teach others, so he could leave this world without regrets.
But when he took a closer look, he couldn't help freezing. Why did this person look so familiar?
One day, a powerful young noble went into the mountain forest to search for something. For the first time, he fell into a trap set by an outsider, and it took him ages to climb back out.
When he looked up, he saw a young woman carrying a basket on her back, with a rare millennium-old Juelian flower tucked behind her ear.
What extravagance! She was wearing a treasure as an ornament.
The girl noticed the man behind her had been secretly watching her for a long time. Seeing his remarkable constitution and immunity to poison, she decided he would be perfect for testing a new medicine.
So, for the first time in her life, she spoke first: "Would you like to become my apprentice?"
The young man thought that since this girl possessed such a precious treasure, becoming her apprentice might help him find the whereabouts of that rare medicinal herb. He happily agreed.
