They met again after many years in an ophthalmology clinic.
“Jasmine.” Liang Xingsheng still called Luo Ying by the nickname he used back then. In his low, gentle voice, he asked her, “What happened to your eyes?”
Luo Ying didn't say a word. She turned and walked away.
One day later, Luo Ying woke up in Liang Xingsheng's bedroom.
He was leaning against the window, gazing down at her with unhurried composure. The belt of his bathrobe was loosely tied at his waist, and a conspicuous scratch marked his chest.
Her face reddened. Putting on a show of bravado, she raised her voice and snapped, “Liang Xingsheng, are you even human?”
Liang Xingsheng smiled. His gentle tone was utterly unconcerned. “Didn't you already know? I'm a bastard.”
With an indulgent lilt, he told her, “Jasmine, you called me that last night too.”
