On that bitterly cold winter night, Chen Se brought Yun Yan, shivering and homeless in the freezing cold, back to his home.
From then on, the two classmates who'd barely interacted at school became roommates, sharing meals and a home.
She was the tenant, and he was the landlord.
The landlord charged no rent. His only condition was that she never tell anyone they lived under the same roof.
Yun Yan obediently agreed, but then deliberately broke her promise.
Chen Se refused to speak to her for an entire week.
After the college entrance exams, Yun Yan moved out of her family home and never returned.
Chen Se ignored her, acting as if she'd never existed.
Then, on his birthday, Yun Yan came back to school after a shift at work, only to find Chen Se waiting for her outside the dormitory. Through gritted teeth, he murmured, "What did you take me for? Yun Yan, you're an ungrateful little brat who can't be tamed!"
"Can't you," Chen Se pleaded, humbling himself before her. "Can't you try to like me? Just a little?"
