[Marriage first, love later + (pseudo) substitute romance. Possibly a slightly angsty sweet romance (?)]
Irresistibly charming, adorable sweetheart omega receiver x taciturn alpha giver who says one thing and means another
Just after starting his freshman year, Wen Youxia was told by his family that he would be marrying an alpha he didn’t know.
His parents tried to reassure him. “You’re not exactly strangers. You played together when you were little.”
Wen Youxia: “How is that any different?”
Wen Youxia had been the center of attention since childhood, with more playmates than he could count.
At first, Wen Youxia thought that at worst they could each do their own thing after the wedding. But on their wedding night, he was horrified to discover that he and his marriage partner were both allergic to each other’s pheromones. 😱
For the sake of the family’s stability, Wen Youxia agreed with his partner that they would divorce after a year.
On the first day of their marriage, Wen Youxia and his partner kept out of each other’s way.
On the second day, his partner was too busy with work to come home, so Wen Youxia threw a party at their place.
On the third day, Wen Youxia went into heat and spent the night with an unknown alpha.
On the nth day of their marriage, Wen Youxia discovered that the alpha from that one-night stand was his marriage partner.
The giver’s perspective:
When they met again, Yu Shaojian saw the unfamiliarity in Wen Youxia’s eyes and finally accepted the truth: Wen Youxia had completely forgotten him.
Yu Shaojian had always been proud, so even when Wen Youxia suggested divorcing a year later because of their pheromone allergies, he naturally assumed a year would be plenty of time for them to grow close, plenty of time for Wen Youxia to fall in love with him.
And it did seem to be going that way. After they married, their relationship grew closer and closer, and Wen Youxia stopped calling him the polite “Mr. Yu” and started calling him “A-Jian.”
Until one sunny afternoon, Wen Youxia’s first love showed up asking to get back together.
Wen Youxia’s first love was named Zhang Jian.
The receiver is not the giver’s first.
Reading guide:
1. The author enjoys dark, angsty melodrama. There are many potential triggers, and the story is not open to moral judgment.
2. The receiver is extremely popular, and plenty of minor pursuers appear.
3. The ex-boyfriend is real; the substitute romance is not.
4. The writing is rough, the plot is chaotic, and there are many author-created details. There will be plenty of plot holes, and I’ll just make things up to patch them, so don’t think too hard while reading.
The cover is a commissioned illustration of the receiver.
