Guo Er stood outside the police station for a long time. In the end, she sent her father to prison, and the sharp-tongued old woman bought her a very expensive hearing aid.

The hearing aid sometimes stopped working, and Guo Er had grown used to the suffocating silence that followed when she could no longer hear.

Yu Sheng, a newly risen top-tier star, was invited to Guo Er's photoshoot.

Her agent thoughtfully reminded her, "This photographer has trouble hearing, so be patient when you communicate with her."

Yu Sheng nodded, but while Guo Er was adjusting her camera, she leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Sis, can you hear my heartbeat now?"

Later, Guo Er asked Yu Sheng curiously, "Why did you become an entertainer?"

Yu Sheng dropped her pretend aloofness. As usual, she bit Guo Er's firm lips with her fangs and protested sadly, "I was afraid you'd forget me."

Guo Er smiled. Back at her rented apartment, she looked at the photos covering the walls and pinned up one she had taken herself, with every right to do so.

How could she ever easily forget the person who had once been her light?

Bonus scene:

To others, Guo Er was hearing-impaired, so during her school years, both students and teachers took special care of her.

During PE, the teacher arranged a volleyball game. Guo Er played as a substitute, and the teammates around her helped catch the ball and watched her position carefully to keep her from getting hurt.

The only exception was Yu Sheng on the other side. Whenever she got the ball, she would leap up and smash it straight at Guo Er.

Guo Er smiled. "..."

Great. Someone was treating her like a normal person.

After that, Guo Er was hit with one smash after another from Yu Sheng. "..."

Great. She wasn't treating her like a person at all!
