Norman transmigrated into a chaotic, fictional medieval era. The lords ruled their lands independently, exploiting the common people at will, and from time to time they had to contend with Crusaders on their way east and bandits looking to rob them.
Norman was an ordinary minor lord whose father had just died, leaving him his territory. When he heard that a Crusader army would soon pass through his lands and demand all their food and most of their gold and silver unless he wanted them robbed, his vision went black.
Fortunately, a golden finger System suddenly appeared. However, it required him to draw a character to determine what kind of golden finger he would receive.
Norman, who had always been unlucky, suddenly had a bad feeling.
Looking at the lanky man with the name Sherlock Holmes hovering over his head, Norman's vision went black.
Sure enough, he had drawn a detective System. But how was a detective System supposed to help him fight the Crusaders? Was he supposed to help them solve crimes? He'd be captured before he even solved one!
Sherlock Holmes, summoned by the draw, smiled faintly. "As a detective, the most important thing is superior fighting ability. That way, you can subdue all kinds of vicious criminals."
But isn't it a little too late to start working out now?
Then Norman saw the crossbow plans Holmes had drawn.
Norman: ...
"Sometimes, when you don't have a weapon that suits your needs, you have to make one yourself."
Norman suddenly saw the light.
A detective needs to know how to ride all kinds of transportation, so he can escape and chase suspects. But now that skill could help him ride into battle! A detective needs excellent tracking skills so suspects won't easily spot him. That was perfect for leading everyone behind enemy lines to launch a surprise attack!
A detective needs excellent forensic skills to determine whether a victim was poisoned, murdered, or died of an illness. That would help Norman learn about various diseases and basic medical techniques, as well as gain plenty of knowledge about poisons!
A detective needs excellent crime-scene investigation skills to find traces left by suspects and learn all kinds of information about them. Norman could use those skills to track down prey or avoid enemies, helping him and his people hunt for food.
Clearly, there are no useless Systems, only useless people!
Looking at his thriving territory, Norman nodded with satisfaction.
The only downside was that he sometimes had to indulge Sherlock Holmes's desire to solve cases, as the detective was also his teacher. Holmes even complained, "Criminals in this era are far too crude. The poison they use most often is arsenic, they make no effort to cover their tracks after killing someone, and they even hide the murder weapon in their own homes."
Norman: ...

Please add my new story to your collection. It's already started! "[Sherlock Holmes] It's Normal to Find Corpses in the Wilderness": Allen is a weakling vampire who comes out only at night. To make his nocturnal habits seem reasonable, drink fresh animal blood without arousing suspicion, and earn money to restore his castle, he proudly became a paleontologist, self-appointed. This lets him go exploring in the wilderness openly, and drink his fill!
He still hasn't found any useful fossils, and restoring the castle seems a long way off. But he can put up with sleeping in a basement coffin.
But Allen discovers that he has terrible luck. He's barely had a sip of blood before he finds treasure hidden by thieves, mysterious human corpses that appear out of nowhere, and even vicious criminals on the run!
Fortunately, a brave and great detective always appears to save him: Mr. Holmes!
But before long, Allen realizes something is wrong.
Why does the other man always manage to find him, even when he's a whole county away?
Could it be because of the bottle-message System in Allen's mind? But aren't the bottles he sends out delivered to different people? Why does it look as if they're all being received by Mr. Holmes?
Holmes reads a bottle message he received in his mind: I think I've found some treasure in the forest, hidden by someone. Could it be like the treasure in some legend, hidden by elves?
Holmes: Very suspicious. I don't know where this bottle message came from, but I think whoever hid the treasure might be a criminal. I'll go investigate.
Bottle message: Aaaaaah! Why is there a human corpse here? Someone killed them!
Holmes: ? This fellow's luck is pretty good. I'll go take a look.
Bottle message: Help, help, help! Why is there a murderer in the forest? It looks like he's going to kill me, too!
Holmes (excited): This Mr. Bottle Message is incredibly lucky. I think I'll find more cases if I stay near him!
Mr. Bottle Message, who Holmes says is incredibly lucky while being chased by a murderer: QAQ
Holmes, suspiciously: Why does a paleontologist always go out at night? Isn't the wilderness more dangerous after dark? And the blood at the corner of your mouth...
Vampire Mr. Bottle Message: Why is my life so difficult! I'm really not a vampire, believe me, Holmes!
Theme: Nothing in the world is useless; some things just haven't found their use yet.
Indeed, it is not easy to fall in love with a registered permanent residence.
The ending is so rushed, and the next few chapters progress too fast, but it's not bad. The teacher seamlessly opens a new chapter.
