I'm here for the female leads: powerful or growing, charismatic, and in control. The supporting cast should hold up, and any romance should never overshadow the story. Mostly plot-driven, with romance on the side.
Strong Female Leads
Mostly serious historical epics and legends, about empresses, building up a realm, and conquering the world, with a little romance too. The romance strictly follows the rule that the woman is stronger.

I'm a female-lead fan with lots of dealbreakers, and I drop books quickly. I can't stand seeing the heroine get pushed around, and I like her to take the lead. A male lead with no romantic history is the bare minimum. I'll mark any dealbreakers.

Clear plots, with sound logic and believable romantic arcs. A female lead or dual POV is fine. As much gender equality as possible, though the female lead doesn't have to be strong. The protagonists shouldn't be lovesick fools, and they should be capable of accomplishing great things.
