Mei Zhen felt as if she had only blinked. The sunny, lush forest before her had turned pitch-black.
Where was she?
She couldn't see, but she often heard people walking back and forth in front of her.
"How long has this human been here?"
"A few weeks, at least."
"Should we give her another shot of sedative?"
"We're out. Our colleague from the technology plane won't be back until next week."
"When is the boss coming back from vacation?"
"The System says there's still a month to go."
"Then we'll wait until the boss gets back... Hey, hang on. I think I just saw her blink!"
After learning from the person supposedly in charge that there was no way for her to return, Mei Zhen struggled for a while, but eventually chose to accept it.
The boss said they could arrange a job for her and provide a place to stay.
But the so-called lodging was just her office in the place where she'd originally been staying. There wasn't even a bed.
Fortunately, the boss also gave her something that could open a path to any time or place, saying she could go back and visit whenever she missed home.
Let's open a snack shop in the break room. The idea popped into Mei Zhen's head the instant she saw the little snacks, perfectly packaged and endlessly churned out by robots in this deserted factory.
It would also solve the problem of the company's employees having such bland, monotonous food.
When Mei Zhen realized that the snack shop was filling up with more and more bizarre things, she took the little blackboard that read "Zhenhao Snack Shop" and erased and rewrote it until it said something else: "Zhenhao General Store."
