What's it like to date your childhood friend who is always out of touch?
You see each other three times a year. Two times, you don't meet at all; the third time, he runs off midway. The whole relationship is chatting alone online.
After graduating from high school, she simply breaks up with him. She doesn't want to keep hearing other people pass along his vague excuses.
Then she applies to the police academy, determined to give the title of "Savior of the Police" back to the police!
When her assignment as a trainee officer comes through, her superiors tell her to contact a public security officer undercover at a distillery.
To protect the undercover officer's identity, they give her very little to go on: male, distinctive color, and the code word is alcohol.
Lan arrives at the meeting place and is faced with the classic three choices:
One man is carrying a wineskin, chatting amiably with the shopkeeper outside a souvenir store.
One is holding a bar's complimentary drink ticket and arguing with a child about age.
One is sitting at an outdoor cafe, drinking with a companion and playing on his phone.
Since she knows the first two men well and trusts them completely, she resolutely walks up to the third, a man with striking silver hair.
She says to the man she's chosen, "Sir, do you like a drink? Mind if I join you?"
The man nods calmly. "What are you drinking?"
Lan smiles. "Bourbon."
The man looks up at her, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly. "Right. Public security."
They have a pleasant chat, and she gives plenty of useful information to her superiors. After a while, her ever more successful superior and she are both grinning from ear to ear.
"I never thought that kid would be dark-skinned but not dark-hearted! He didn't lead me astray this time!"
"Sorry? What did you say? Dark-skinned?"
That's when she realizes things have gone seriously wrong...
