In the mortal capital of Fengjing, everyone knows the sickly young woman who faints after walking a few extra steps. Everyone says she's destined to die young.
Because of a marriage pact, the powerful families of Fengjing hope she'll die, yet fear that she will.
The late emperor personally arranged the marriage on the day she was born. Put simply, whoever marries her can claim the realm. That's why the princes all have their eyes on her.
They pursue her heart like they would seize power, but she's sickly, the kind of sickly girl who faints after walking a few extra steps. Most of the time, the princes are left with nowhere to put their efforts...
Meanwhile, in the cultivation world, everyone knows a madwoman who set her sights on ascension as a child. Her favorite way to cultivate is to drive herself into desperate situations, and she's provoked countless powerful sect masters into hunting her down.
Every time, it ends the same way: she breaks through, and her opponent dies.
At her most ruthless, she even wipes out her opponent's entire sect.
She lives up to her name, doing only what benefits herself.
But only a handful of people know that these two women are actually the same person.
Li Xingji, the madwoman of the cultivation world, is Li Weiyue, the sickly young woman of mortal Fengjing. Even if she said so herself, no one would believe her.
The people of the cultivation world would only think she'd gone even more insane and should be avoided at all costs. The people of mortal Fengjing wouldn't understand what she was saying and would only think she was dying and had started babbling.
The few who know they're the same person say, "No wonder you're so crazy. Cultivating is hard enough, and you still have to deal with Fengjing's affairs. Tsk, tsk. I can kind of understand why you're this crazy. Turns out you've got too much information coming at you."
Li Xingji/Li Weiyue: ... (Silence is the best answer.)
---Reading Guide---
1. This is a lightly ensemble-style story. The heroine's main goal is ascension, and the viewpoint switches back and forth between the mortal and cultivation worlds.
2. The synopsis doesn't mention it, but the male lead is a wolf demon, the wolf by the heroine's side. He stays in his original form for most of the early story and is her little sidekick. The male lead is strong, but the heroine is super, super, super, super strong! She's the strongest one!
3. The male lead is pure in both body and heart and loves only the heroine. The heroine is pure too, more or less, but because of the novel's setup, lots of men will flock around her (the men pester her one-sidedly). The heroine only finds them annoying, though. Her heart belongs to the male lead alone. (That's right, the heroine is that devoted, as well as powerful. She's practically perfect.)
4. The heroine doesn't just kill people; she saves them, too. She has a bit of a conscience, though not much of one. (She's fairly self-interested.)
