She Came to My Concert

Double death | Nonlinear storytelling | Sweet and angsty

On the night she won the Chinese Music Gold Award, Shen Nanxi leapt from a high-rise.

Beneath her lay the abyss, and release.

Her ashes mingled with blood and bloomed into a grotesquely beautiful flower.

Her beloved lay quietly in the urn beside her.

At twenty-five, she died in a sea of flames, clutching her beloved's portrait.

At thirty-five, she left this world with her beloved's urn in her arms.

At the concert, the lights shone brilliantly and the crowd cheered.

A fan picked up the microphone. "Teacher Shen, when you're surrounded by all these voices, what do you wish for?"

Tears ran down her face, filling in the blank she had left all those years ago. Shen Nanxi gazed into the distance. "I wish she'd come to my concert."
