Failure? No Problem!

The girl sobbed to her mother, “...I only got a D+ for my performance! I’m such a failure! I have no talent for acting. I should quit right now!”

“Sweetheart, you know I’ll always support you. I can tell you’re very upset right now. I promise we’ll withdraw you from the performing arts academy and find you an ordinary middle school. But there’s one condition: it won’t be today, or right this moment.”

“When, then?” the girl asked over the phone.

“Maybe tomorrow, or a little later, once you’ve calmed down,” her mother said.

“Why won’t you stop me?” The girl sounded puzzled. “Don’t you think I’m being impulsive, or feel disappointed by my ‘failure’ at school?”

“We see things a little differently,” said Helena, her mother. “I think you’re ‘not good enough,’ but that doesn’t make you a failure.”
