Worrying About Nothing: A Retelling

Five-year-old Kaixuan studies idioms and allusions with her mother.

When they get to "The Man of Qi Fears the Sky Falling," her mother explains that worrying in advance about things that are almost impossible not only makes you miserable, but can also make you look ridiculous.

After listening, little Kaixuan scratches her head and looks seriously at her mother. "But I think his worries make sense. The sky has never fallen before, but there's no evidence that it will never fall, either!"

Her mother is a little surprised to hear her say that, but doesn't immediately argue back. After thinking it over, she decides to tell Kaixuan, "Then let's think of a solution together."
