[The lucky wanderer who strolls everywhere vs. the sneaky, suspicious Boss]
Everyone in the dorm had started playing "Rivers and Lakes", the hit game sweeping the internet. Liu Qianling had never tried a full-dive game before, but she finally registered an account so she could fit in. Fitting in is only natural, after all.
As soon as she entered the game, Liu Qianling triggered a hidden Easter egg in the "Newbie Trial." The quest target was lying by the side of the road, gravely wounded and on the verge of death, but he stubbornly waited until she arrived before passing out.
Redemption arc or dark arc? That is the question.
Roommate A, a veteran player, said calmly, "Help those in need, not the poor. Don't rush. Save your game first."
Roommate B, a rich girl, overheard and chimed in, "It's just a pay-to-win gimmick. You'll probably have to buy an item first."
Roommate C, a fan of all kinds of BL, lit up. "How come I never got that scene? Oh, an Easter egg NPC. So, is he handsome?"
Liu Qianling glanced at the long-haired Samoyed still passed out on the ground and hesitated. "I guess... But he doesn't seem easy to save."
After she'd raised the Samoyed for a while, it ran away.
Liu Qianling was miserable. She hadn't expected to have to look for a dog in a full-dive game.
Seeing this, roommates A, B, and C all tried to comfort her.
"Qianling, it's all part of a hidden quest. You'll meet again if fate brings you together in the martial world. Let it go."
Later, Liu Qianling, a specialist in triggering Easter eggs, activated another hidden quest. She couldn't beat the Boss, the White Wolf King, so she called the entire dorm over for help.
Her roommates were awesome. After a token struggle, the White Wolf King was ready to escape as the story dictated.
Veteran A gave instructions. "Qianling, touch it! Otherwise you can't get the treasure chest!"
"Okay. Do you mean with my hand?"
Liu Qianling charged into attack range.
"There's no 'pet' option!"
Liu Qianling cried in dismay.
The White Wolf King's ears twitched.
The White Wolf King raised a paw.
This was it. They were doomed.
The other three rushed in to save her.
Just as everyone thought the Easter egg was done for, the White Wolf King, all claws and no words, suddenly turned the tables with a 360-degree change of heart.
With a plop, the Boss fell at her feet, trying its best to nuzzle its head against her knees.
The aloof White Wolf King had turned into an obedient Samoyed:
"Long time no see. Should I just let you pick me up, or do we have to follow the usual steps?"
Liu Qianling: "...Heh."
