The Deer King Jataka Painting

According to Buddhist scriptures, the Deer King Bodhisattva died in an ordeal, and his remains became Buddhist relics. After a great cycle of three hundred years, gathering them all can bring the Nine-Colored Deer King back to life.

When the Deer King lives, all wishes come true.

Three hundred years later, ten people set out to fulfill their deepest desires and seek the bones of the Nine-Colored Deer King. A ballad goes: Ten set out, nine die.

When the Deer King's pelvic bone was found, someone exclaimed, "Was this really a male Deer King? This looks like a female deer's pelvis. A male deer's pelvis should be much narrower."

The young man kneeling before the golden statue of the Deer King stood up.

He wore a bamboo basket on his back and green clothes. His skin was ghostly white, his eyes pitch-black, and his lips blood-red.

He said, "This is a male deer's pelvis. There's a crack by the tailbone, and the opening was forcibly stretched apart. It's like..."

"Like a male deer went through pregnancy."
