Straight-laced, sweet younger sister vs. her nasty, brooding second brother
Wan Chun was eight the first time she met Liang Qingheng.
She was brought into the Liang family as both an adopted daughter and a companion to look after Liang Mu.
Liang Mu, the eldest son of the Liang family, had been frail and sickly since childhood.
Wan Chun got along wonderfully with him. Liang Mu taught her calligraphy, chess, and painting, and they lived together in perfect harmony.
The Liang elders thought highly of her gentle, obedient nature and the way she took such good care of Liang Mu. In private, they felt that if the two naturally ended up together when they grew up, there would be nothing wrong with that.
But then a car accident took Liang Mu, who had always been in poor health.
Wan Chun became the most awkwardly situated member of the Liang family.
After the memorial service, people whispered among themselves.
"Now that Liang Mu is gone, what status will his child bride have in the Liang family?"
"The family is well-off, so they can keep her around. They might as well do a good deed."
"Maybe the Liang parents really would be willing to raise her, but what about the second young master? The Liang family will be his to run one day, and everyone knows he can't stand that adopted daughter."
Wan Chun knelt before the funeral altar, her slender, frail figure turned away as tears fell one by one onto the kneeling cushion.
No one knew that the phone in her pocket was vibrating with a message from the second young master, Liang Qingheng.
"Come over."
"I can't right now."
"However many tears you shed now, I'll make you shed them all over again in my bed."

The Liang family's two young masters were as different as night and day.
The eldest, Liang Mu, was gentle and refined. The second, Liang Qingheng, was cruel and domineering.
Wan Chun had always known Liang Qingheng hated her.
When she accidentally broke his fountain pen, he took out a ruler and beat her palm until it was red. When she looked up, she saw a glint of excitement in his eyes.
On her eighteenth birthday, Liang Mu said, "May my Wan Chun have a life full of smooth sailing."
That night, Liang Qingheng lifted her chin with the ruler and demanded, slowly and deliberately, "Tell me, who do you belong to?"
Liang Qingheng had long been used to controlling and possessing her, used to Wan Chun obeying him with resentment and submitting to him in fear.
He had never imagined that one day she would slip from his grasp and disappear without a trace.
#When the ruler falls, I'm only bluffing because I want to hear you say you love me#
Reading guide:
1. An unconventional puppy-and-daddy dynamic. The male lead is dominant on the surface, but emotionally submissive.
2. Difference in status and size, older man, sc, happy ending.
3. The male lead is utterly vicious, brooding, and domineering at first. He gradually changes after pursuing her, but the puppy-and-daddy dynamic remains.
4. I couldn't find inspiration for the original blurb, so I rewrote it. Sorry, sorry (kneeling, )
Theme: Be yourself and find freedom.
