Li Zhuo was orphaned as a child. On top of that, he had an extremely yin constitution, making him a freak who was neither fully human nor fully ghost. People shunned him, and ghosts would not accept him either.
Unlike the younger generations of his family, who were respected exorcists, Li Zhuo was considered the shame of the Li family. As soon as he was born, he was handed over to the old steward, who took him to a small city on the edge of the Evil Ghost Realm and left him to fend for himself.
The old steward was elderly, and when Li Zhuo was nearing adulthood, he passed away. With no one to protect him, the people and ghosts in the city became even more ruthless.
Li Zhuo had long since grown used to living this way, until one day, a cotton doll he had picked up began to talk.
“Can you fight?”
“I give up. If you can’t win, can’t you at least run?”
“Move. You’re all thumbs.”
Li Zhuo watched as the little doll, which couldn’t even reach his knee when it jumped, flailed its clumsy limbs and somehow beat off a vicious ghost that had been bullying him.
The doll planted its hands on its hips and said proudly, “See? I’ll only teach you once. Next time, fight like that.”
Li Zhuo nodded and lowered his head to sew up the doll’s little arm, where the cotton was showing. The feelings he had numbed for years began to stir.
Years later, the only ghost tamer in the world appeared out of nowhere. Rumor had it he was the freak abandoned by the Li family. When the Li family heard the news, they came rushing over. Their long-dead family affection suddenly flared back to life, and the family head wept bitterly as he begged Li Zhuo to return to his roots.
The young man had shed the timidity and cowardice of the past. He watched a group of people perform their remorseful, tearful act with an impassive expression.
Seeing a chance, the Li family members cried even louder, hoping their tears would move him.
Suddenly, a terrifying pressure slammed everyone to the ground. The incomparably handsome Asura Ghost King appeared out of thin air and pulled the young man into his arms, his eyes filled with bone-chilling cold.
“Cry again and I’ll kill you all. Get out of Asura City.”
The Li family members froze, too startled to even wipe their noses. They scrambled to their feet and scurried away.
The story of a lovely, pitiable boy saved by a short-tempered cotton doll. The blurb may be tweaked a little, but the central premise will stay the same. If you’re interested, dear readers, please add it to your favorites. (The little doll makes a heart with its hands.)
