Daodao is a three-year-old tortoiseshell cat.

She is the first employee in a new department at the Wish Bureau. Her job is to go to the human world and fulfill the wishes of people who died with regrets.

The senior employees at the bureau all say that Wish Bureau staff act through the bodies of the dead. But when Daodao arrives in a new world, she still has her original body.

"Meow?" Daodao wonders.

Does that mean she has to fulfill human wishes like this?

Reader advisories:

* Daodao is a real cat. She does not turn into a human.

* In the mission worlds, humans perceive Daodao as human, even when she does all sorts of cat things [licking her paws, kicking her legs to scratch an itch
