[Football] A Striker Who Doesn't Want to Be a Goalkeeper Isn't a Good Midfielder!

[As of 5:00 p.m. on December 18, 2015, after careful consideration, I've decided to put this story behind a paywall later on. It's been on hiatus for a while, but I don't think enough time has passed for that yet, so it may be another month or so. I originally stopped updating because I had a few personal issues. A few months ago, I went through a lot of back and forth with some changes at work. I got a new job at the end of last month and had planned to come back and finish this story, but for some reason, I just can't recapture the feeling I had when I first started writing it. What I've written from the outline just doesn't feel right. I've been very torn about it, but after thinking it over, I feel it's better to put it behind a paywall. I'm sorry for the long hiatus. If fate brings us together, I'll see you in my next story. Branwen Priest is a young player in Borussia Dortmund's youth academy, and is widely considered the academy's most talented midfielder. Everyone assumes he'll definitely make it to the first team, until he submits an application to leave the academy. The youth coach, who has been watering this little talent nonstop and hoping he'll grow up quickly, is stunned. Favre, who has just been appointed Borussia Dortmund's new head coach in a crisis and is eager to bring fresh blood into the first team, is stunned too. Both coaches are left with question marks over their heads, while Branwen himself remains perfectly calm and simply says he wants to go back to school. Youth Coach and Favre: ??? There's no way they're letting him go back to school. A little talent like this? They'll never let him go back to school as long as they live! The coaches bare their teeth. The coaches try both threats and persuasion. Branwen, who knew from the start that he probably wouldn't succeed and was only giving it a try: Then never mind. It's pretty common for your hobby and your profession not to match, right? Besides, football pays well. Work hard for a decade or two, and enjoy life forever! So he slings his little backpack over his shoulder and walks into the first team's locker room. A few months later, Branwen regrets it. "You missed an open goal! You missed an open goal!!! The opponent's players are eight hundred meters away, and there's only one goalkeeper standing in front of a 7.32-by-2.44-meter goal, and you still can't score?!" "Shoot! What are you hesitating for? I've practically spoon-fed it to you, and you're still hesitating?" "Can you do it or not? If you can't, step aside and let me do it!" Later, a reporter asked Branwen how he felt when he saw his teammates waste their chances. Branwen gave a rueful smile. "I feel like retiring on the spot. I also really want to switch jobs and become a goalkeeper. Then I could stand at the very back and pretend I didn't see it when my teammates miss their shots. : )" A few things to know before reading: ## The blurb may sound serious, but the story itself isn't. It's lighthearted and cheerful. ## No CP, no romance. ## I'm a football fan, but I'm only an amateur, so my match scenes won't be up to commentator standards. Also, this story has the same issue as all football stories: the protagonist will win championships, including league titles, the Champions League, and so on. If you can't accept the winners being changed, this probably isn't for you. Though, since it's fanfiction, I assume everyone's prepared for that... Theme: Hard work is the road to success
