Journey Across Mountains and Seas (Women’s Dominion)

For the imperial examinations, Xu Song was sent back to the capital by her father to reunite with her mother.

The moment she set one foot through the gates of the Minister of Revenue's residence, the whole capital was abuzz with the same words:

That Xu family's illegitimate son is back. The capital's in for another show.

When Xu Song heard this, she sneered. "Don't rush. I've only just arrived."

And the capital really did get livelier.

Everyone discovered that this illegitimate child was not only skilled in both literature and martial arts, but had also caught the Emperor's eye.

Most importantly, she was as beautiful as a goddess in a painting. Whenever she went out,

young men from every household immediately flocked around her.

According to the latest gossip, the Emperor wanted to betroth his youngest imperial son to her.

The Chancellor had recently been spending a lot of time with Minister Xu. Was he hoping to marry his son to Xu Song's daughter?

The young master of a general's family stopped Xu Song's horse in the street and asked her name.

One jealous woman laughed, "So what if a little girl is pretty? Does she think she can marry every eligible young man in the capital?"

The young men, thinking there was a chance: "Come marry me!"

(This was expanded from a story in a collection. It has nothing to do with the love story of the parents' generation.

I just wanted to try writing a female-led story in a matriarchal setting. Updates may be slow, but I won't abandon it.)
