A Life Like a Dream in a Matriarchal World (II)

Xu Jiaming transmigrates to a matriarchal world, only to become a simple-minded fool in the countryside. Being a fool is fine. Here, she has a mother who loves her and a good friend. She thinks a life like this is pretty nice: she wants no riches, only peace and safety. But one snowy day, she finds an peerlessly beautiful man, and her fate begins to turn. The beautiful man she rescued falls ill again while saving her. To get him treated, she takes him all the way to the capital to seek a doctor. Maybe it's a transmigration trope: once in the capital, she meets an influential patron and becomes an official. She thinks she and the beautiful man could live comfortably together for the rest of their lives. But the beautiful man says, "You like him, so I brought him back and put him in your room..." The beautiful man says, "Jiaming, I've arranged a marriage for you. The wedding is set for..." The beautiful man says, "She and I aren't what you think." The beautiful man says, "Xu Jiaming, I'm going back to my hometown. Don't come looking for me..." Xu Jiaming isn't a fool. Looking at this handsome man, her heart aches. All she wants is for him to say one thing: "I didn't betray you." If only he said it, she'd believe him. But he left without saying a word. -- After Yanzhi is reborn, he finally realizes that he's afraid of dying. He'll do anything to stay alive. So when Xu Jiaming says she's going to the capital, he objects with all his might. He's afraid of running into that person again. But fate has its way, and they still go to the capital. He hides indoors and never goes out. And still, he meets that person. The one sitting on the throne gazes at him with deep affection. She says, "Yanzhi, I'll give you one more chance. Will you stay in the palace of your own accord..." Yanzhi sees the murderous intent in her eyes and hears her say, "Or shall I have Xu Jiaming killed?" Looking at her, Yanzhi remembers that someone once taught him a lesson through pain. That person said, "Yanzhi, without power in your hands, you have no right to say no."
