In an era of turmoil,
people struggled to survive.
Yet there was a woman who took in anyone in need, one by one, whether they were shinobi or ordinary people, whatever their clan name.
She built them a peaceful, quiet village, carving out the land and creating a home for them.
Madara loved the village. It became a wonderful place for him and Hashirama to spar.
But shinobi could never escape fighting one another,
and young Hashirama and Madara were destined to clash.
Flames blazed into the sky.
Giant trees twisted together.
They destroyed her village.
They also caused her death.
Hashirama: "Madara, I want to build a village, a peaceful shinobi village where everyone can live together."
Madara: "Yeah."
Hashirama: "What should we call it?"
Madara: "How about... Konoha?"
Urahara Wakaba, former member of Squad 12.
She should have been in the Seireitei,
but she could also have been in the Rukongai,
or in the World of the Living,
or, if all else failed, in Hueco Mundo.
But no matter how she looked at it, she shouldn't have ended up in a shinobi world so full of "souls" that she could perform soul burials on three with a single wave of her hand.
So here's the question:
With only a gigai and a Zanpakuto at the start, how was she supposed to keep doing her Soul Reaper job in a shinobi world crowded with "souls"?
And no one had told her
that her work would have to start with farming.
In this era of turmoil,
the wailing souls everywhere gave Wakaba a terrible headache.
There were too many to perform soul burials without stopping. She had to solve the problem at its source.
So Wakaba went around saving people and taking in all kinds of adults and children.
She took in enough people to form a village, cleared the mountains, built roads, and struggled to survive.
Then the nearby great shinobi clans went to war,
and she saw the faces of the children she had raised among them.
Souls scattered across the sky, gathering and gradually turning into Hollows...
Then the village she had worked so hard to build was gone.
Wakaba: ?
Fine, fine.
Go on, fight. Go ahead and kill each other.
Better yet, die in a pile.
No need for soul burials.
Just let your souls be obliterated.
But she still had work to do.
Wakaba made a snap decision. She shed her gigai and cut down every trace of malice. At last, after performing a soul burial for the final soul, she turned around and saw several of the children she had raised clutching her gigai and weeping, full of regret.
Wakaba: ...
Right. It was time to leave.
So Wakaba took the chance to steal her gigai and move somewhere quiet, far away from them. Since she couldn't stay anywhere for long while wearing a gigai that never aged or changed, she decided to travel the world instead.
Wakaba: "Farewell, you little brats."
