In her previous life, Li Shao was the Son of Heaven, yet she still had no freedom. Every matter, great or small, at court was decided by the treacherous minister Liang Qiu. Though she sat high upon the imperial throne, she was like a bird in a cage. Later, she was accidentally killed by one of Liang Qiu's enemies.
Li Shao hated Liang Qiu to the core. Her sole wish before she died was that the realm of the Li Dynasty would never fall into Liang Qiu's hands.
When she opened her eyes again, Li Shao had returned to the age of thirteen. She was now a princess, born to a life of luxury, while Liang Qiu had yet to become the all-powerful, treacherous minister she would one day be. Li Shao sent people to track Liang Qiu down, intending to kill her while she was still weak and alone. She stormed to the place where Liang Qiu was, only to see her chained feet and a crowd pinning her to the ground and beating her. Blood soaked through Liang Qiu's tattered clothes, but it could not make her bow her stubborn head.
Li Shao had gone there intending to kill her, but seeing this, her heart softened for a moment, and she rescued the pitiful Liang Qiu. She brought her back to the palace and taught her poetry, books, and etiquette, hoping only that she would take the right path and not become the same kind of corrupt minister as in Li Shao's previous life.
She never expected Liang Qiu to be so clever. Not only did she rise rapidly through the ranks, she also quietly took control of everything in Li Shao's life. By the time Li Shao realized what had happened, she discovered that Liang Qiu was the only person around her she could rely on.
"What is it you really want?" Li Shao asked tentatively.
"You." Liang Qiu smiled faintly, twirling a loose strand of hair by Li Shao's temple with her finger. "I want you, Your Highness!"
