The kingdom of Jiang fell amid turmoil.
That night, the young princess of Jiang, Jiang Nongyu, hid in a pitch-black cupboard, waiting to meet the bodyguard sworn to protect her. But she mistook someone else for him.
Looking at the delicate young princess before her, Ji Mingying remembered the last request of the person who had died. Her expression darkened. She drank the harsh liquor from her wineskin and accepted the task.
Ji Mingying hadn't expected the princess to mistake her for a bodyguard who obeyed her every command. The girl began ordering her around at every turn. If she wanted water, it had to come from a mountaintop spring, or her stomach would hurt. She had to wear silk and satin, or her whole body would itch. At night, she had to hold the princess and soothe her to sleep. Once, when Ji Mingying merely dozed against a tree with her sword in her arms, the princess thought she'd gone missing and cried her eyes out. In all her eighteen years of life and ten years wandering the martial world, Ji Mingying had never been saddled with such a demanding little tyrant!
Jiang Nongyu thought she had a highly skilled, utterly loyal bodyguard. Apart from her somewhat bad temper, she had no flaws. But one day, Jiang Nongyu learned that the person caring for her day and night wasn't her bodyguard. She was Ji Mingying, the number-one assassin of Wu.
Ji Mingying was born with mismatched eyes and was bloodthirsty and cruel. Her nickname was "Hellhound," and countless people had died by her sword. Her past deeds were enough to get her executed a hundred times over.
Terrified, Jiang Nongyu trembled all over. She planned to slip away while Ji Mingying wasn't looking and join the remnants of the Jiang kingdom.
But Ji Mingying was so alert that she stopped her halfway there, sword in hand.
The wind lifted Jiang Nongyu's dark hair. She hunched her shoulders and said softly, "I know you think I'm a nuisance. I won't bother you again."
Ji Mingying sheathed her sword. Beneath the cool moonlight, her distant brows drew together. "You're no nuisance. You can have anything you want, but you can't leave."
"But all I want is to leave," Jiang Nongyu said quietly.
"Then no one will protect Your Highness, do your hair and makeup, buy you the most expensive silk, or carry you up a tree to pick flowers."
Jiang Nongyu tugged at her sleeve. "I won't leave."
Ji Mingying's eyes curved into a smile as she draped a fox-fur hood over Jiang Nongyu. Her voice was gentle, but laced with bone-chilling cold. "Even if Your Highness wants to leave, I won't let you go."
A pampered princess x a hellhound assassin
Please add the upcoming novel Mistaking a Thousand-Year-Old Fox Spirit for the Founding Patriarch to your collection.
As the thirty-second-generation heir of the Evergreen Sect, Jian Mingwei ought to make the sect flourish. But she can't exorcise ghosts, read feng shui, or see spirits. With the Evergreen Sect about to fall on her watch, Jian Mingwei's grandmother, on her sickbed, orders her to use the family's secret art to summon their founding patriarch.
Jian Mingwei sets up the candles, draws the talismans, and looks at a crudely drawn portrait before reciting a spell longer than her own life. Before long, a stunning young woman with raven hair and snow-white skin, draped in gauze with bells wrapped around her ankles, is lying on the candle stand.
"Founding Patriarch... Grandma?"
"Who are you?" the Founding Patriarch asks, bewildered.
Only after Jian Mingwei takes Grandma Founding Patriarch home does she learn that the woman has lost her memories. Fortunately, she still has her magical powers. She can exorcise ghosts, vanquish demons, read feng shui, and tell fortunes with ease.
Since Grandma Founding Patriarch knows nothing about modern society, Jian Mingwei becomes her live-in personal assistant, available around the clock.
Her friends say she's a sucker, groveling to support someone she's keeping.
She slaps one of them right back. "That's my Founding Patriarch Grandma!"
Only Heaven knows how filial and respectful of her elders she is!!!
Jian Mingwei's hard work pays off. At the next gathering of the mystic arts sects, held in the capital, she sits in the seat of honor with Grandma Founding Patriarch on her arm.
Ever since she became sect leader, the Azure Mystic Sect had never enjoyed such glory. For days, Jian Mingwei floats on air, until one rainy night, while driving, she sees several fox tails emerge behind Grandma Founding Patriarch in the passenger seat.
"You..." Jian Mingwei gasps.
"So you saw them!" The fox spirit curls her lips into a smile. Her pale arm winds around Jian Mingwei's neck, and several tails emerge from behind her, binding Jian Mingwei from head to toe like a cocoon.
Raindrops patter against the windows. Trembling, Jian Mingwei steps on the gas, trying to get out of the car.
The tails tighten around her. "Don't even think about running."
"And don't even think about leaving me."
Jian Mingwei's breathing grows heavier. Just before she loses consciousness, she hears the fox spirit speak in a bewitching voice: "If you don't behave, I'll eat you."
Theme: Only love can heal the human heart
With such an arrogant character, I would rather be. Even if Yuki Mingying is in the world, it will be difficult for her to live in the world (and she is also being hunted). She only knows how to blame and doesn't know how to reflect on herself. I hope she can be cultivated and change later [support chin] [melted]
