The Demon King and the Young Forensic Doctor

The Jiangcheng Special Case Unit solves cases fast and works at a brisk pace. If there’s one thing you could complain about, it’s that the job is a little hard on the forensic pathologists. One veteran was left with aftereffects from a stroke, another was kidnapped and traumatized, and a third couldn’t take the tyrant’s oppression any longer and demanded a transfer. At last, a new forensic pathologist arrived.

The newcomer was sunny and handsome, nothing like someone who spent every day working with corpses.

“Hello, I’m Su Chen. Su as in Suzhou, Chen as in stars.”

He Yan glanced up at the fresh graduate standing before him. He made no move to welcome the kid. With that scrawny build, he wouldn’t last two months before filing for a transfer.

But after a case raised Su Chen’s security level, He Yan hadn’t even had time to get rid of the kid before he was ordered to move into Su Chen’s place and protect the little sprout around the clock.

The kid’s home was so messy it looked like they could wage a tunnel war in there. He Yan’s eyelids twitched as he surveyed the place.

“You look so polished, so why is your home a pigsty?”

Su Chen had a perfectly good answer.

“As long as I’m easy on other people’s eyes when I go out, I can put up with the mess at home.”

Su Chen could put up with it, but He Yan couldn’t. He went on duty as bodyguard and housekeeper, all the while hoping to get the kid out of his hair as soon as possible.

But the young forensic pathologist might have been useless at keeping house, yet he was excellent at his job. He eagerly joined field investigations, worked efficiently on dissections, wrote autopsy reports in no time, and occasionally came up with leads that helped solve cases.

And so, by day, the young forensic pathologist eagerly followed the great demon king on field assignments. By night, the great demon king cleaned up the fries the young pathologist had left behind.

Watching the kid come home and immediately glue himself to the bed, He Yan picked up a half-finished bottle of cola from the side. Maybe having the kid around wasn’t so unbearable after all. He could put up with it a little longer.

Thesis: Justice will come in the end.
