[The Unremarkable Journey of an Unremarkable Girl]
Every art student who has fought through countless competitors to earn a place here has once had dazzling dreams:
Dreams of shining brightly.
Dreams of a smooth path to stardom.
Dreams of becoming the next Empress of some kind.
But Duan Jingci is different. Her idol is Mei Lanfang.
-
She began learning Peking opera at seven, working steadily through bitter cold and scorching heat.
With her easygoing nature and irreverent banter, she focuses solely on performing opera, and it's the only thing she's good at.
Other than Peking opera, Duan Jingci can't do anything.
But fate played a slow-simmering practical joke on her.
-
Much later, she briefly gave in to reality. Yet every morning, rising with the dawn, she still got out of bed and practiced her vocal exercises, day in and day out, for ten years.
[No matter how the world changes, Duan Jingci will always be Duan Jingci.]
[That will never change.]
