As a minor character in a storybook world, Jian Yan always had a firm grasp of his role and the mission he had to fulfill:
Become part of the romantic leads' little games, making a bit of noise when they were sneaking around together to add a thrill for the young couple.
When the school bully shoved the poor, pitiful boy into an abandoned stall to secretly torment him, Jian Yan was the footsteps passing by outside.
The bully covered the poor boy's mouth and murmured in a low voice, "Keep it down. You don't want anyone else seeing you like this, do you?"
When the playboy and his friend's wife secretly hooked legs and held hands under the table, Jian Yan was the classmate bending down to pick up a dropped pair of chopsticks.
He saw the two legs jerk apart in a panic, only to intertwine again less than half a minute later. One person's face was flushed, while the other gave him a taunting smile.
When the stepson and his stepmother were flirting next door, Jian Yan was the sick old father lying in a hospital bed, coughing up a storm.
The stepson draped an arm over his stepmother's shoulders and laughed boldly. "Does hearing the old man's cough turn you on even more?"
Jian Xi: Whoa, that's so thrilling!
He followed the school bully into a secluded hallway, only for a sinister hand to yank him into a storage room.
The bully chuckled behind him.
"Keep it down. I wouldn't want anyone to see you like this."
Meanwhile, the poor boy who should have been the star of the scene was outside the door, face cold, frantically knocking and looking for someone.
He rallied and followed the playboy to a party.
He never expected that the chopsticks would fall, but not because he dropped them.
And how could someone take advantage of picking up chopsticks to secretly touch a background character's foot?
Jian Xi almost couldn't keep a straight face. He looked up and saw the playboy anxiously feeling his forehead.
"Are you okay? Are you feeling unwell? Maybe I should take you home first."
Once was a coincidence. Twice was pushing it.
He lay in bed, playing the role of a gravely ill old father, and coughed loudly a few times, just like his character was supposed to.
His wife and eldest son hurried over at the sound and ran into each other at the door. After exchanging a glance, one grabbed the other's throat while the other bit his thigh. Neither would back down, each trying to glare the other to death.
Meanwhile, Jian Xi, lying in bed and nearly coughing up blood: ...
Why haven't they started yet? I'm about to cough myself to death.
