Dong Que was a transmigrator.
Under the influence of the original story, her personality swung from kind to cruel.
Her part in the story lasted only the first two chapters.
She was the catalyst for the book's main villain to turn evil. In the end, the villain would dismember her and feed her to the wild dogs, leaving her with a gruesome death.
Dong Que couldn't resist the story's control and had no choice but to follow the original plot, tormenting him day after day.
Samuel had a backbone. No matter how badly she tortured him, he never begged for mercy or cried out in pain.
On the rare occasions when the original story didn't control her, Dong Que's natural kindness showed through, and she would tenderly tend to his wounds.
Beneath the long hair he hadn't been able to trim, his amber eyes were as beautiful as glass beads. He really did have a handsome, captivating face.
He was still a young wolf who hadn't fully grown his fangs, but Dong Que knew that if his restraints were removed, he could bite through her neck in one snap.
She felt terrible and apologized to him. "I might have to keep torturing you for a while longer, but hang in there. It'll be over in a month."
Her gentleness now was completely at odds with her earlier brutality.
Her beautiful face was full of concern as she disinfected his wounds with her own hands.
Even though she knew that the next time they met, the skin she had painstakingly cleaned would once again be covered in new wounds because of her.
She tortured him, then gently cleaned his wounds and apologized.
As time passed, Samuel was tortured until he was on the brink of death.
Dong Que knew the end was near and that she was about to die.
In a month, he would remove his restraints with his own hands and dismember her.
By chance, a dispute broke out at the royal court. Dong Que was accidentally injured, and her arm bled heavily. She didn't go to the dungeon for several days.
When she finally went to see Samuel, her arm was wrapped in bandages.
The boy, tortured to the brink of death, immediately raised his head at the sound of the door opening.
When he saw her, hope filled his dull eyes.
But when he saw the wound on her arm, he fell silent.
Dong Que took out a red-hot branding iron and held it in front of him. Planting her high heel on his head, she sneered and asked whether he was afraid.
His lips moved. In a hoarse voice, he asked her, "Does... it hurt?"
In that instant, Dong Que saw nothing but concern in his eyes.
His battered body trembled uncontrollably.
-
Dong Que died.
But she came back to life.
This time, though, she was an ordinary refugee fleeing famine.
Every morning, she went with her mother to work at a textile factory.
Newspapers were scattered everywhere. The country folk had no manners and tossed them aside after reading.
One happened to blow to her feet, so she picked it up and glanced at it.
The Empire has rebelled. The new king is brutal, wiping out the entire former royal clan.
She saw a photograph taking up the entire top half of the newspaper.
The man wore black armor and a black battle robe. His bearing was imposing, and his entire face radiated bloodthirsty menace.
At that moment, he was holding up a severed head with eyes still open.
It belonged to the former king.
Red mist filled the surroundings, stained with blood.
Dong Que looked into the man's eyes.
His amber pupils seemed darker than before.
Dong Que was frightened.
The original story's ending seemed to have changed. The villain had won outright, and not one member of the hero's party had survived.
She might die too.
She had to escape.
Right now.
"Big sister, where could you possibly run? ...No, I suppose I should call you little sister now."
