ABO: fiercely protective bodyguard × cool, elegant heiress
Modern: bodyguard × heiress
Ancient: military general × princess of a fallen kingdom
The first part is from Wen Che's perspective, the second from the heiress's.
The heiress gets her heart broken one night and wants to go for a drive. As her personal bodyguard, Wen Che naturally goes with her. On a stretch of road where the streetlights are out, their car hits an obstacle, plunges off a cliff, and the two transmigrate to a dynasty called Great Zhou, where the customs and way of life resemble those of the Song dynasty.
Wen Che becomes the daughter of an obscure military officer at court, while the heiress becomes the daughter of a powerful chancellor.
At first, Wen Che has no idea the heiress transmigrated with her. When they unexpectedly meet, the heiress throws her arms around Wen Che and cries for a long while, sniffling and looking utterly pitiful.
With no choice, Wen Che agrees to keep protecting her. Later, she takes the military examinations and enters the chancellor's service.
Then she discovers that the heiress is thriving in this dynasty. In the modern world, she was a university lecturer in classical Chinese literature, and her main area of study was the Song dynasty, so she knows everything about this place.
What's more, the reigning princess resembles the heiress's ex exactly. Before they transmigrated, the chancellor's daughter had been deeply in love with the princess, and the whole court knew about it.
To win the chancellor's support, the princess deliberately gets close to the heiress, treating her with warmth and care. The heiress falls for her all over again.
The moment Wen Che sees the princess kiss the heiress, she immediately turns away. A hot tear slips unexpectedly from the corner of her eye.
Wen Che raises a hand to wipe it away and gives a bitter laugh.
In both the modern and ancient worlds, she and the heiress were always destined to walk separate paths.
Blurb two:
Xu Ruanqing transmigrates to ancient times and becomes the daughter of the powerful chancellor. She is arrogant, domineering, and conceited. Everyone in the realm knows that both the chancellor and the empress dote on her.
But only the chancellor and the empress know that she is actually a princess of a fallen kingdom. Back then, Great Zhou was weak and utterly helpless against Beiliang. The chancellor had no choice but to negotiate peace in Beiliang, where she deliberately seduced Beiliang's empress and stole their military defense plans.
With those plans, Great Zhou sent its troops north and captured ten cities in a single campaign. Beiliang's forces were routed. The empress of Beiliang led her troops back to defend the city, but the chancellor ordered it set ablaze.
Unable to bear the people's suffering, the empress of Beiliang left the city to surrender, carrying her daughter, who had not yet reached her first month. She was struck down from her horse, and the baby in her swaddling clothes was stained with blood.
The chancellor took the baby back to Great Zhou and named her Xu Ruanqing, giving her all the love she could. But it was not out of guilt. She was saving the girl for a future political marriage with Beiqin.
When Xu Ruanqing turns eighteen, Great Zhou's empress names her Princess Hanyue and marries her to Beiqin's crown princess. But just after Xu Ruanqing enters Beiqin, her maid kills her at an inn, giving Great Zhou an excuse to invade Beiqin.
Until her death, Xu Ruanqing never knew that the person who killed her parents was also the one who killed her.
