[Unhinged writing, no logic. Do not read if you dislike that.]
Mei Qian spent thirteen years hiding and surviving in the apocalypse in his previous life, only to end up being eaten by zombies.
Well, so what if he died? His quality of life hadn't made living worthwhile anyway.
But as luck would have it, he came back to life.
So what if he was alive again? He got bound to a System, and the System was nuts. It was called "I'm Gonna Farm Like Crazy."
Why farm? Was this Plants vs. Zombies or something?
Mei Qian smiled. "Is it possible that we're supposed to fight zombies?"
The System waved a hand. No worries, close enough!
As everyone knows, plants need watering.
The plants the System provided were especially unusual: they needed to be watered with a particular spirit spring.
Unfortunately, the System accidentally developed a split personality, and the other half, along with the spirit spring, ended up with Mei Qian's archenemy.
Mei Qian smiled the smile of a dead man and pointed at his archenemy Bu Lian's face. "See how swollen his face is? Guess who hit him five minutes ago? Freshly done."
While the System remained silent, he pointed at his own bruised eye and the arm he'd just had put back in place. "See? He did that five minutes ago. Still warm."
The System cowered, but Mei Qian wanted to live!
So he carried over a stool, braved his archenemy's murderous glare, and shamelessly sidled up to him.
"Bro, could you cry for me?"
His archenemy slowly formed a "?"
The apocalypse arrived, civilized society swiftly collapsed, and humanity's ugliness was laid bare.
Many people either became or went mad at the beginning of the apocalypse.
Bu Lian thought his archenemy had gone crazy. Otherwise, no one would shamelessly beg someone they'd been beating up just minutes earlier, "Could you cry for me?"
Bu Lian shook out his aching arm, raised a fist, and started fighting him again. He couldn't help it. That guy's behavior was no different from provocation.
There was a strange duo at the Dawn Survivor Base.
When other people fought, their abilities filled the air with dazzling colors. These two, however
One brought out a little stool and cried.
The other scattered a handful of seeds and grinned.
The seeds on the ground sprouted at lightning speed, and in the blink of an eye, the zombies were gone.
The others slowly formed a "?"
With teamwork this perfect, they ought to have been the best of friends. Their relationship should have been great, but these two would pick a fight whenever they felt like it.
They could charge in and out of hordes of zombies seven times without a scratch;
at the victory banquet, they'd drink together and end up in the hospital as a pair.
The others: "..."
They were frenemies. They took their rivalry a little too far, but they were still friends.
Until one day, someone caught the two of them wrapped in each other's arms, kissing.
They couldn't bear to part.
Mei Qian stubbornly insisted, "What's wrong with brothers kissing? Don't you kiss your bros? What, you really don't? Then your bro isn't bro enough."
Beside him, Bu Lian covered his burning red ears and put on a cold expression as he echoed him.
The others: "..."
Do whatever makes you happy.
Reader advisory
A deranged, self-indulgent story written for my own enjoyment.
Not friendly to fans of either the gong or the uke.
They really fight in the beginning, fists flying and both of them getting hurt.
They're still awful to each other later on, pulling pranks and sabotaging each other as a couple.
If you don't like it, you can yell at me. There's no need to leave outright. I'm an obscure author with no readers, and I'm lonely.
The author's personal headcanon is extensive.
