People who know Qin Ji describe him this way: cold-hearted.
He has room in his eyes for nothing but the rise and fall of the stock market and the struggle for capital. He scorns the flattery and fawning of the world, and is arrogant beyond all reason.
No one knows what kind of person could bring him to heel, until Zhu Weidie appears.
Qin Ji describes Zhu Weidie this way: heartless and ungrateful.
From the moment they met, he saw through her vanity and shallowness, yet he still indulged her ambition and kept her by his side for years.
During their time together, he gave her increasingly extravagant tastes. What others saw as priceless treasures, Qin Ji bought just to hear them clatter for her amusement.
Zhu Weidie, as he wished, would be moved by his gifts, prepare surprises for every holiday, and play the part of Mr. Qin's girlfriend with flamboyant enthusiasm.
Everyone thought Qin Ji would be the first to tire of their game of love. Instead, Zhu Weidie was the one who left first.
As she was leaving New York, she received a call from Qin Ji.
The man, who was usually unflappable, could barely contain his anger as he gave her one last warning. "Zhu Weidie, if you leave, don't let me find you. Otherwise, I'll make sure you die."
Zhu Weidie looked up and saw his tall figure standing on the second floor of the departure lounge. A teasing smile curled her lips.
Then, right in front of him, she tossed her phone into the trash without hesitation.
When they met again, she had transformed into a hot new actress, taking the industry by storm with her peerless beauty.
Qin Ji was the biggest investor in her new film. At the production launch banquet, he sat at the head of the table and showed no interest in the drink she offered him.
She thought that was how their story would end.
But later, on a stormy, pitch-black night, he arrived when she was at her most helpless and held her in a warm embrace.
Trembling, Zhu Weidie asked, "Aren't you supposed to hate me to the bone?"
"I do." He smoothed her disheveled hair. "So until I figure out how to get my revenge, you have to be all right."
* The heroine is genuinely self-serving and puts herself first. Romance accounts for very, very, very little of her life. The hero is completely lovestruck, but too stubborn to admit it. Neither character is perfect. Sche...
