Ruan Huilu x Li Chongyu

Junior civil servant x rising tech star

Bickering couple | Reunion after years apart | He has a secret crush

-

Ruan Huilu has been having some bad luck lately.

Her family pushed her into a blind date, and her date turned out to be Li Chongyu, a high school classmate with whom she'd had an unpleasant history.

Even worse, during dinner she dropped his phone into the hotpot. She spent all her savings buying him a new one, only for him to coldly refuse: "If I wait for you to pay me back, I'll be wasting time. My time is worth more than a phone."

But she refused to leave the debt unpaid. After several rounds of negotiation, she successfully took charge of Mr. Li's dinners.

At the first meal, Li Chongyu insisted the budget stay under 100.

At the second, Li Chongyu wouldn't let her order takeout.

At the third...

Ruan Huilu gritted her teeth as she added Mr. Li's dietary restrictions to her notes, swearing she'd never see him again once the debt was paid.

Later.

Li Chongyu, the rising tech star of Lucheng, had always looked down on everyone. In people's minds, he was an immovable iceberg who would never bend for anyone.

That is, until Ruan Huilu got drunk, grabbed him by the collar, and burst into tears, accusing him of being too arrogant when he confessed to her before.

No one expected Mr. Li not only to stay calm, but to gently wipe away her tears and ask, "How should I do it differently?"

Ruan Huilu pretended to be drunk and unreasonable. "Beg me."

"All right," he replied without hesitation. "Marry me. I'm begging you."

*Wait, whose proposal actually involves begging???

*I ended up with the high school classmate I couldn't stand.
