The puppy was so happy every day after his parents found him on the mountain. They took him for walks every day, played frisbee with him, and gave him delicious treats.
But the puppy soon stopped being happy, because he learned from the System that his parents were about to go bankrupt, and that a white lotus flower was about to bloom in their home. That flower was awful.
She made Mom angry every day and kept Dad from coming home, as if she wanted the puppy gone.
The puppy barked furiously and swatted at the white lotus whenever he saw her.
"Woof, woof, woof! You made Mom angry, and you're trying to seduce Dad!"
The mother holding the puppy began to look increasingly dangerous.
The System also told the puppy that his grandpa in the countryside had fallen, and his second aunt had left him to die so she could get the inheritance. He wasn't going to make it.
The puppy was so shocked that he lifted his head. He remembered Grandpa well. Whenever he went to the countryside, Grandpa would take a hoe and dig up the tastiest sweet potatoes for him, and tell him he was the very best, most well-behaved little puppy.
Dad, kneeling on a washboard, grabbed his coat and ran out the door.
The System said their family was having a run of bad luck. His older brother's graduation project at school had been plagiarized by his roommate, who then accused him of being the plagiarist.
His brother hadn't seen it coming, so he couldn't defend himself. He was about to be expelled.
His brother, hurriedly adding encryption to his computer, gritted his teeth.
The puppy bit down on the meaty bone the boy next door had given him and thought, Those people are so mean!
The System nodded along. Right, so mean! That boy who gave you the bone has a childhood friend who treats him like a backup, uses his designs, bleeds him dry, and then dumps him to be with someone else.
The neighbor feeding the puppy a meaty bone fell into deep thought...
The puppy felt so sad he couldn't even eat his favorite meaty bone.
"Woof, woof!" He'd decided. The puppy was going to save them!
When I write about cats, I often find myself wondering: Do dogs have a lot to say in their hearts? More than cats?
Every day, curled up in Mom's arms or on Dad, the little dog goes "whimper, whimper, woof, woof" in a tiny voice.
But what he's saying is, "I love Mom, I love Dad~ Take me out to play~ Let's go for a walk~ Give me something tasty~"
Mom's yogurt lid belongs to Woof Woof, and Dad, if it's raining, take Woof Woof out for a walk~
