Monsters

Lin Yu played a game called Little Monsters.

The monster babies in the game were adorably ugly. A little octopus would curl its tentacles around him and act cute, a giant spider would roll over and show him its round belly to rub, and a gooey slime monster would draw a heart for him while he fed it... The game's distinctive art style kept Lin Yu hooked for a while, but soon he found a new game and forgot all about it.

Then, sometime later, strange changes began to take place in the world around him.

His neighbors, his boss, the doctor downstairs, the lawyer he worked with, even the supermarket cashier... They all seemed to be changing. Not only did they keep showing up in front of him, they even seemed to want to court him???

"Um..."

He stared at the tentacles poking out from the doctor's coat, the spiderwebs left behind on the documents his boss had touched, the damp banknotes the cashier handed him as change, and the strange "people" who kept arriving one after another. He swallowed nervously.

Damn it, if you're going to pretend to be human, at least make a better effort! This is scary!
