Tipsy in Manhattan

[A self-proclaimed player, spoiled brat x a reserved, flirtatious investment banking mogul]

Marriage first, love later | 10-year age gap | SC

1.

Ye Zhiyi, the daughter of a diplomatic family, desperately needs a perfect "shield" to escape her family's arrangements.

Yu Shubai, New York's king of mergers and acquisitions, desperately needs a respectable "Mrs. Yu" for social occasions.

Two shrewd people hit it off at once.

Ye Zhiyi smiled brightly. "We each get what we need?"

Yu Shubai answered in a businesslike tone. "We don't interfere in each other's affairs."

Their eyes met, but there wasn't a trace of warmth.

2.

A bombshell rocked high society: the investment banking mogul, a workaholic whose yearly flight miles rivaled those of a professional pilot, had gotten married on a whim!

But the day after the wedding, the groom flew to Europe for a merger deal. Everyone felt sorry for his new bride.

The bride, Ye Zhiyi: Celebrating with champagne on a private beach in Long Island. Do not disturb.

"A promotion, a fortune, and a dead husband (crossed out at Yu Shubai's insistence). I'm free and rich. It couldn't be better!"

3.

At three in the morning in Times Square, several men and women stood outside the Edition Hotel, hurrying to their next venue. Yu Shubai spotted a familiar figure.

His "wife," who had been out of touch, was holding a handsome young man's hand. "I've transferred your living expenses for this month. Is it enough?"

President Yu raised an eyebrow and straightened his tie and clenched fist.

Using my money to keep a pretty boy? Looks like I need to have a good "talk" with my new bride.

4.

One day, Ye Zhiyi forwarded a "cat-ear cosplay" picture to her best friend with the comment, "This would look perfect on you."

But she accidentally sent it to Yu Shubai, whom she had been giving the cold shoulder for three months. She hurriedly recalled the message and tried to make up for it with, "Sent that by mistake."

That night, someone crossed the Pacific, wearing cat ears, and leaned over her.

His long fingers gripped her chin, his voice teasing. "Who were you planning to send it to, hmm?"
