My Wife’s First Love Is Back

Shen Xun was a peerless genius born into a noble family, the object of every woman's affection. Yet he was as cold as snow on a lofty peak, with no interest in marriage and only ambition in his heart.

But after he was gravely injured saving the emperor and awoke from the brink of death, Shen Xun found himself a married man.

His new bride was named Yun Xiang. After speaking with her at length, Shen Xun learned that when her childhood sweetheart and betrothed died in battle, she had planned to spend the rest of her life as a nun. But because the Yun family owed the Rong family a debt of gratitude, she had become his bride to repay it.

Shen Xun had no interest in romance, and he resented his family for using a favor to force her into repaying a debt. Still, the marriage was already a done deal, and he could not annul it at once. So Shen Xun and his wife drew up a divorce agreement, to take effect three years later.

They made two copies. After three years, either party could present the agreement and end their marriage.

For those three years, Shen Xun devoted himself to court affairs, believing he was as indifferent as ever. That was, until his wife's childhood sweetheart and former fiance returned to the capital, alive after all. He saw his wife gazing at her old love through tearful eyes, her gaze full of a tender longing he had never seen before.

A wave of aching bitterness suddenly welled up in Shen Xun's chest. Before he could even understand why his heart hurt so much, the thought of the divorce agreement hit him: it would take effect in just three months.

[When divorce is just around the corner, I suddenly realize I love my wife. I love her so, so much, and I love her more with every passing day.]
