On a stormy day, someone knocked on Li Xiao's front door. He opened it to find Chen Chanyi standing there, clutching a bath towel and looking a little timid.
"What is it?" He leaned against the doorframe, looking down at her.
The girl bit her lip. "The water's been shut off at my place."
"And?"
"Could I borrow your... take a shower?"
He raised a brow, a smile appearing in his icy eyes. "You came to your ex-husband's place to shower?"
Watching the color of her neck slowly change from pale to red,
Li Xiao pushed the door open. "Sure. Come in."
The rain lasted for days, and a typhoon swept through the whole province. The entire building lost power.
When Li Xiao's door was knocked on a second time, he raised a brow.
Chen Chanyi looked on the verge of tears. "My place... the water's been shut off."

Li Xiao was soaked through, one long leg braced as he leaned against a dirt bike. Broad shoulders, narrow waist, the corner of his lips lifted in a chilly smile, his eyes and brows cold and menacing.
"Roommate."
He walked toward her, step by step.
"Where do you think you're running off to?"

The night they broke up, a heavy snowfall blanketed the capital.
He stood in front of her, his expression cool. "I have to get married."
Those five words made her thoughts slow for a moment. She froze for several seconds before quietly replying, "Okay."
She had always known her place. In his social circle, she could be his girlfriend for a while, then quietly leave when he was ready to get married. She knew this was the best their relationship could ever be.
She lowered her head. "Then I'll leave Beijing tomorrow."
He was silent for a long time.

She hurried over, out of breath, and looked up apologetically. "I thought you'd gone home."
He held an umbrella over her.
It was dark by then. The dim streetlight shone down from behind him on the left. One half of his body was wet with snow, the other lost in shadow.
He parted his lips and said softly, "I won't go home if you don't show up."
Now,
he really was going to have a home, with another woman.
