Blurb
When she was young, Vera once stumbled into a wondrous, fantastical world. She became a powerful witch and saw countless kingdoms, mountains, spirits, and merfolk.
She found a black dragon egg brimming with magic. The witch had already set up her cauldron and was humming as she brewed a potion. Just as she was about to toss the egg in, a little black dragon suddenly hatched and gazed at her with innocent, adoring eyes.
The witch: ...
Her songs became his lullabies. He grew up by her side, traveling with her from place to place.
But she did not belong in this world, and she never told the young dragon her name.
They were walking through the streets of the city of Theodore when the holy knight commander returned to the cheers of the people, riding a white horse in gleaming armor after a great victory over the monsters. The aloof commander sat high above them all, his handsome face devoid of joy. Noble, cold, and beautiful.
The witch couldn't help admiring him. He had the aura of an icy, beautiful widower who had lost eight wives.
The young dragon, innocent and curious, asked her what a wife was.
The person closest to you, the one you love most, the person you want to spend your whole life with...
The eager young dragon began stubbornly calling her his wife. The witch thought things were getting too twisted and tried to scare and threaten him. All she got in return was the young dragon clutching her clothes and sobbing, "You're my wife. Nothing will ever change that."
At first, the witch resisted. Eventually, she gave up trying to stop him.
Until witch hunters drove her out of that wondrous world, leaving her dazed and convinced it had all been a dream.
Many years later, she fell into that world again. The first thing she saw was an arrogant, imposing demon dragon seated high upon a throne.
The tall, handsome man radiated a darkness and magic so powerful that they made the witch tremble. Silver-white hair fell to his waist, his red eyes were indifferent, and he rested his hand against his sharply defined, handsome face as he sat coldly and arrogantly upon the throne.
Beautiful, aloof, cold, and proud.
He asked,
"Who are you?"
Amid the swirling dark magic, the witch caught a hint of something familiar. She hesitated, then spoke in a trembling voice.
"Am I... your wife, lost for many years?"
The Demon King fell silent for a long time. Then he gave a cold snort, revealing sharp, sinister fangs.
"Wife? ... She's been dead for ages. I've had eight of them die."
The cold-hearted Demon King wants to destroy the world, and the whole world is gripped by fear.
The witch doesn't understand why the young dragon she raised has become a Demon King and a wicked dragon feared by everyone.
But the way he destroys the world and kills anyone who displeases him really does give him the air of an icy, beautiful widower who has lost eight wives.
Although His Majesty the Demon King doesn't recognize her or remember her,
she plans to stay and teach him to mend his ways.
The cold, arrogant Demon King simply lowers his head and buries it against her shoulder. His fangs show as he restrains his urge to devour her, and he says:
"If you don't want me to kill you, be my ninth wife."
...Say that again. How many wives have you had?
1. Gender-bender.
2. The male lead has never had eight wives. He's just trying to provoke the heroine. Both leads are sexually inexperienced. A beautiful, poisonous husband who was raised by his wife.
3. Written purely to indulge the author's preferences.
4. The witch's potion lets the Demon King give birth himself, so the male lead becomes pregnant. Please mind the content warning.
