The day his kingdom fell, Qiao Zhen held the imperial jade seal in his hands, dressed in white mourning clothes and carrying the seal in his mouth. Alone, he opened the city gates and surrendered.
Once hailed as a brilliant advisor, he knelt at the feet of the enemy ruler and became a traitor despised by all. Others called him greedy for wealth and glory, and said he had betrayed his former lord. Qiao Zhen did not care.
He had to survive and protect his former lord's orphaned heir. With his insignificant life... he would avenge the benefactor who had saved him.
But later, when he had climbed step by step to the heights of power and finally plunged a knife into his enemy's chest, he saw his enemy smile at him. With a bloodstained hand, the man caressed his cheek and said:
