Fang Qingchi has barely graduated from college when he runs into the problem of finding a job. To make ends meet, he takes a part-time job as a late-night chat streamer, and his pleasant voice earns him a small following.
But job hunting during the day is exhausting. After he gets so tired that he goes several days without streaming, he returns to find the chat flooded with fans wailing that they haven't had enough.
Fang Qingchi says sheepishly, "Sorry, everyone. It's so hard to find a job right now. If I could get paid to slack off, I'd stream every day."
As soon as he finishes speaking, he receives a private message.
A user with a deep-sea avatar asks, "How good are you at your craft?"
Fang Qingchi replies, confused, "What craft?"
The other person says, "Slacking off. If you're good at it, you can name your salary."
Fang Qingchi: ?
He thinks a fan is teasing him, so he jokes back, "If a job like that really exists, I could slack off until your company goes bankrupt."
The other person pauses, then sends him an address. "Tomorrow at ten. Come in for an interview."
Fang Qingchi: ???
He thinks the person sounds like a scammer, but after hesitating all night, he decides to take a chance.
When he arrives, a secretary in a suit leads him to a private elevator that goes straight to an underwater office. There he meets a stunning merperson. The merperson leans against a huge pool, the tail above the water shimmering, though some of its scales are sticking up in a mess.
The merperson turns around and gives him a haughty, aloof look, then points to a pair of sterilized, special gloves beside him and says curtly, "Put them on. Pet me."
Fang Qingchi: "..."
Has he really been hired to pet an actual fish?
A merperson seme who loses scales because he gets angry all the time x a human uke who has to pet him and smooth his scales to make ends meet
