| A gorgeous, spirited beauty who isn't delicate vs. a handsome, talkative, rugged military officer
| Our hometown lies in fields of hope~
| A frontier farming and poverty-alleviation story: let's farm, get rich, and flirt with a man along the way
01-
The day agricultural sciences PhD Zhu Yu received her degree, she was unexpectedly in a car accident. Even more unexpectedly, she fell straight into the 1970s.
Her parents favored boys over girls. To save up a bride price for her younger brother, they sold the original owner of her body to Old Wu, a limping man who lived in a mountain hollow next door. Unable to accept what had happened, the original owner jumped into a lake and drowned.
Shortly before her arranged wedding, while working with the production team, Zhu Yu noticed a poster:
Go to the west! Go where the motherland needs you!
Zhu Yu's eyes lit up. She immediately went to the neighboring production team and secretly signed up.
After putting up with her family for three days, she set off for Xinjiang on a train, carrying nothing but a small cloth bag.
02-
At the foot of the Kunlun Mountains lies the ancient city of Kashgar, home to the Third Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
The rich soil was buried beneath yellow sand? Zhu Yu led the way, breaking ground one shovel at a time.
The living conditions were harsh? Zhu Yu quickly befriended the local Uyghurs and managed to bring dozens of them over to stomp mud into bricks for new houses for the educated youth.
They couldn't grow grain? Zhu Yu slapped her thigh. This was exactly her area of expertise.
Everyone said there was a new educated youth named Zhu Yu who had boundless energy for everything and seemed to know how to do just about anything. The talk even reached Colonel Yue Sanchuan at the military district headquarters.
A little girl like her wouldn't last long in the harsh northwest. The Gobi would soon grind away all her enthusiasm.
03-
Zhu Yu proposed a plan to develop local specialties: tomatoes, goji berries, and red grapes; pomegranates, dates, and white cotton.
She waved her hand and declared that farming followed one principle: work with local conditions, and then people can overcome nature.
But the locals had no experience. Nobody would trust a little girl enough to stake a whole year's hard work on her experiments.
Colonel Yue Sanchuan from the military district arrived. Not only did he show up, he also withstood the pressure and made the call to allocate experimental plots. They would do it!
04-
The families in the experimental farming area were delighted.
A bumper cotton harvest! They had enough to keep warm and even made new cotton quilts. No more wearing sheepskins all winter.
A bumper goji berry harvest! Zhu Yu and the locals dried the berries together, packed them up, and turned them over to the state. A large bonus was awarded and distributed among the households.
A bumper harvest of tomatoes, pomegranates, and red grapes!
But with nothing but the vast Gobi all around, who would buy them?
Zhu Yu had submitted the proposal six months earlier, and approval for a canning line had finally come through.
From farm produce to processed goods, they would cut out the middlemen.
05-
"Reporting in!" Zhu Yu knocked on Yue Sanchuan's office door again.
Yue Sanchuan asked with a smile, "Go on, what proposal do you need approved this time?"
Zhu Yu handed him her personal information form and said, "Give me a marriage application. Once we fill it out, please submit it to the higher-ups for approval." At that, Yue Sanchuan eagerly pulled the application he'd already filled out from his desk drawer, took Zhu Yu by the hand, and headed straight for the commanding officer's office. "I've had it filled out for ages. I've been waiting for you to say that!"
Huh? Was this really the same stern, taciturn officer?
[Author's notes]
1. A slow-burn frontier farming story, planned as a long novel. The heroine's farming storyline will drive the plot as she gets spectacularly rich. The pacing may be a little slow, since seeds planted in spring won't yield a harvest until fall, and we can't just skip over everything that happens in between.
2. No women fighting over men, just men fighting over women. The heroine is irresistible to everyone, but the hero is unquestionably her number-one fan. There's plenty of romance, haha. I love writing couples dating.
3. All the settings serve the story. Please don't overanalyze anything that differs from reality. Love you all, mwah~

| A feel-good Period story about Hong Kong's wealthy elite
| Cool-headed, resilient head pastry chef vs. scheming, brooding ambitious man
| The tide ebbs and flows, the moon is cold, the wind and frost, the wild imaginings of night rain, the faint scent of wildflowers. From Vivian Chow's "The One I Love Most"
The day Duan Xiaoning first arrived in Hong Kong, a patch of seasonal hives broke out on her arm.
Fortunately, a boy named Fang Kezhen gave her a shirt.
Rainy-season humidity still clung to Hong Kong's narrow alleys. The aroma of fruit from the stalls mingled with the fishy smell of seafood in her nose.
Duan Xiaoning went to stay with an aunt who had married into Hong Kong and learned to make cakes.
Her aunt was no good, and Duan Xiaoning was left homeless once again.
But her aunt wasn't entirely bad, either. At least she'd taught Duan Xiaoning a skill she could use to make a living in Hong Kong.
Duan Xiaoning also had a discerning palate, a wealth of creativity, and deft hands.
She found a job and slept in the cramped storeroom of the cake shop, where she couldn't even stretch her legs. But all around her was the sweet smell of baking.
It took Duan Xiaoning only a year to go from recreating famous traditional desserts to creating her own original confections, and then another business poached her.
Her new boss was Fang Kezhen, the boy she'd met once and hadn't seen in ages.
It turned out that the Fang in Fang's, the dream employer of every pastry chef, was Fang Kezhen's family name.
Fang Kezhen was an illegitimate son desperate to prove himself.
Duan Xiaoning was the most ambitious and talented pastry chef working for him.
And so Island Gift was born.
A dessert shop with Duan Xiaoning as its head chef. Fang Kezhen wanted Hong Kong to think of Island Gift whenever anyone mentioned desserts.
And Duan Xiaoning did just that.
On Victoria Harbour, Star Ferries crisscrossed the water, their lights complementing the shimmering neon and rippling waves.
Cars streamed along the roads below, and pedestrians looked like tiny dots.
Duan Xiaoning raised her glass and drank with Fang Kezhen beside her. "Then here's to us: may our friendship last forever."
"To love lasting forever." Fang Kezhen slipped a diamond as big as a pigeon's egg onto her finger.
Duan Xiaoning smiled. "What a corny confession. And what a gaudy diamond ring. Still, it's a pretty nice thing."
Fang Kezhen made no comment, letting the evening breeze ruffle his hair. "If it weren't nice, how could I dare give it to you?"
Theme: Youth is precious. It would be a shame not to spend it striving for something.
January was renamed April, not only a few things need to be rewritten, Yue Sanchuan must be so happy [Let me be healthy]
If my friend lied to me like this, I would really feel that our relationship may not be as good as we thought, and I should maintain social distance from her, and I would not tell her anything about me.
This is true. You should set yourself up as a person who doesn't gossip about other people's feelings. Otherwise, people will ask you everything and blame you if you have a fight with your boyfriend.
Isn't that what Yang Haiyan is doing? He doesn't like people and yet he is being attentive here. Doesn't it hurt his feelings because he doesn't think it's good? If you clearly don't like someone, just tell them directly, dragging them to follow you and pretending to be aloof. I really hate people like this!!
It doesn't feel very fast, the water is long and thin, just right 🤩 🤩
Are there any extras? Do you want to be happy forever?
Finished spreading flowers spreading flowers! Then the extra story, is it gone? 😭 😭 😭
I skipped through a few chapters and I still like this heroine. It's not like I read a book before where the heroine was also in her 70s. Because she couldn't settle down after marriage, the hero planned to sleep with the heroine and threatened her. If she was slept with, she would be a loser. If she didn't want to compromise, no one would want her again. If she did, she would be dragged into a fight or something. The heroine didn't even change. In the end, she went to a female competition for such a man with low moral character. I deeply doubt that the author was wrapped up in the cerebellum after writing!
