My Lottery-Chosen Spouse Is Gao Ming

In the third year of the Kōreki era, a mandatory matchmaking lottery and marriage system was introduced.

Hayami Eri drew the renowned Nagano police officer, Takaaki.

During their matchmaking date,

Hayami Eri tactfully said, "Mr. Morofushi, I deeply respect you. But as you know, there's a fourteen-year age gap between us, and I'd prefer to find someone around my own age."

Takaaki nodded. "I understand."

Marriage hadn't been part of his life plan, either.

But as their dates went on, Hayami Eri suddenly changed her mind. She pulled a cosplay prop ring from her pocket and proposed on one knee right there.

To her surprise, Takaaki accepted with a smile.

Yamato and Uehara felt their friend had changed.

Yamato: "...You mean you turned down a get-together with us, put on this white wig and cat ears, and went out in the middle of winter carrying a camera, all just to take a few photos for her??"

Officer Morofushi touched the cat ears, which twitched. "She was happy."

In other words, that made him happy, too.

Officer Morofushi shot his friend Yamato a sidelong glance. "You should ask yourself why you and Uehara still haven't gotten anywhere after all these years. Meanwhile, I'm already married."

Yamato: (▼^▼#)

Hayami Eri went missing in an avalanche.

Officer Morofushi kept searching and finally found her.

The moment he saw her, he pulled her into his arms with trembling hands. But when he looked up, he met the gaze of his younger brother, Hiromitsu, standing in the distance.

Takaaki: "...?"

Hayami Eri leaned close to his ear, embarrassed, and said, "Well, I talked with Hiromitsu for a few months. It's thanks to him that I wasn't hurt this time... He'll be able to become human again in a few days, okay? Then you won't have to be sad about Hiromitsu anymore, right?"

"Before I met you, I was always losing things.

After I met you, I kept getting back what I'd lost."

Tips:

① One-on-one romance, happy ending, lots of author-created settings, and an out-of-character warning.

② A proactive, supportive lover, with a fourteen-year age gap. (The gap is this big because I wanted the Organization to be defeated and the heroine to be a college student.) The heroine has a special constitution and can bring the dead back to life under certain conditions.

③ At its heart, this story was written to let Takaaki regain what he'd lost, so his family is brought back, including his older brother.
