Gojo Isn't the One Who'll Cough Up Flowers

Dongyue Xuan has flower-spitting syndrome.

The first time she had an episode, Gojo was helping her remove an earring caught on her bathrobe.

"Xuan-chan, do you have someone you like?" he asked, sounding rather surprised.

"I don't have to tell my teacher about that, do I?" she replied casually.

"Xuan-chan, you've been out of school for five years! You're colleagues with Great Teacher GOJO now, colleagues. Calling me 'teacher' in this situation just sounds weird, doesn't it? So who do you like? Geto? Nanami? Haibara?"

Dongyue Xuan thought for a moment. "...But I don't actually know who it is, either."

/

Gojo threw himself into finding the person she secretly liked.

In the end, he discovered it wasn't any of them.

He lifted his blindfold, revealing his clear blue eyes. "Eh... it couldn't be me, could it?"

So they kissed, though he was hardly enthusiastic about it.

Afterward, Dongyue Xuan stared at him for two seconds, turned her head, and spat out even more gorgeous, brilliant flowers. Her breathing grew faint.

Gojo: "..."

Dongyue Xuan turned back and realized his expression really did look like he'd just had his whole world shattered.

Much later.

...*#%&*¥, nobody told her flower-spitting syndrome could evolve! She actually had to do it with the person she secretly loved a hundred times within a month to be cured!

Gojo smiled as he rubbed the back of her neck, his tone impossible to read. "Yoshi... This time, I'm not letting you get away, okay?"

Tips:

1. One-on-one romance, both are each other's first love, bittersweet and sweet.

2. A mountain of personal headcanons, OOC warning. Probably not very long.

3. This is an alternate-universe version of the little-kid story in my other series.

4. No romantic feelings are depicted while the teacher-student relationship exists.

5. Below is a brief explanation of the original flower-spitting syndrome concept, based on things I found online and with my own additions:

A patient has an unrequited love but cannot convey their feelings to that person, so the emotions build up until they fall ill, causing them to spit out flower petals or flowers.

The only cure for flower-spitting syndrome is to confess to the person currently loved in secret. Getting those feelings returned usually involves kissing. If left untreated, the patient will spit out more and more flowers, grow increasingly weak, and die within as little as two weeks or as long as several months.

In this story, flower-spitting syndrome evolves, so confessing and kissing aren't much help.
