1. Yu Jian is a little dragon who tries very hard to stay alive. After meeting a kind older brother, he feels the warmth of home for the first time in ages. He admits that he really wants to go home with him.
The kind older brother has a younger brother whom he cherishes above all else: a pretty face, a vicious temper, and a little tyrant known throughout Shuzhou.
The little tyrant hates all demons. His life's wish is for there to be no demons in the world, and for his brother and sister-in-law to be happy. So he kills any demon he sees. The first time he meets the little dragon, he ties him up and tries to roast him alive. When that plan fails, he comes up with another, kicking the little dragon into the sea while he's standing at the bow. Again and again, he drives the little dragon away.
The little dragon fears him, but envies him too. He once thought about sucking up to him, just so he could stay in his home.
Gradually, the little tyrant starts buying food for him of his own accord, and even gives him a dragon-shaped toy, the kind every child in Shuzhou loves. The little dragon thinks he has finally been accepted.
But the good times don't last. The little dragon accidentally brings disaster, and the kind older brother and sister-in-law really do die because of him. He feels guilty and knows he has wronged the little tyrant, but he still wants to live, even if it means bearing everyone's hatred.
He really does want to live.
To stay alive, he can tell countless lies, swallow his pride, and even kill the little tyrant.

By sheer luck, the little dragon survives Heaven's punishment and is rescued by a young woman. To repay her kindness, he agrees to marry her and build a home with her.
This peaceful life is all the little dragon has ever dreamed of. He learns to farm and provide for the household, takes on the responsibilities of its head, and looks forward to the wedding day.
On their wedding night, dressed in bright red wedding robes, the little dragon opens the door to the bridal chamber. But on the wedding bed, where his bride should be sitting, is the little tyrant, risen from the dead and radiating murderous intent.
