Warning: A mountain of headcanons, a clichéd reunion after a breakup, OOC, apologies to everyone and everything.
Like a willow branch stretching upward, Kei Tsukishima grew quickly when he was twelve. Only Tadashi Yamaguchi, who always followed behind him, knew about the growing pains that came with it.
At twenty-two, Tadashi Yamaguchi suddenly grew a centimeter. His joints ached terribly, but there was no one by his side.
At last, he understood: getting used to Kei Tsukishima not being there was the growing pain that had come late.

The nth time he was asked about his love life at a team-building party, Tadashi Yamaguchi could take no more and put on the ring that had once been a symbol of their passionate romance.
"Sorry, senpai. I'm seeing someone." Yamaguchi added, "...We're very happy together."
As if. They had broken up ages ago.
Unable to fend off his colleagues' barrage of questions, Yamaguchi finally pushed open the door and left, only to stumble into a long-missed embrace.
The blond young man held him with one arm and pushed up his glasses with the other. "I just walked by and heard that apparently I've got a boyfriend again."
Yamaguchi hurriedly pushed him away, but the familiar ring hanging from his neck hurt his eyes with its glint.
"You idiot, Yamaguchi."
Kei Tsukishima lowered his eyes and kissed the lips Yamaguchi had pressed together to keep from crying.

He is no moon in the sky, but a firefly in the mountains.
Childhood sweethearts are destined to get! mar! ried!
P.S. A short story, as usual.
Lots and lots of headcanons. I almost made it a tragedy, but changed my mind.
This is the story of Tadashi returning to work in Miyagi after graduating from university, where he meets Kei, who works at the Sendai Museum.
