Ecological collapse, natural disasters descend, and rumors say that only the Twelve Gods can bring humanity a glimmer of hope.

After loading into an apocalyptic world of extreme cold, Yu Tang was so frozen he could barely open his eyes. As he tugged his coat tighter, he saw a line of printed-looking text suddenly appear on the back of his left hand:
Twelve Gods 249.
Yu Tang patted his chest and let out a long breath.
"That was close. I was almost 250."
-
"Are you painting? Or... recreating the scene of a murder from the previous world?"
Yu Tang's words earned him a hostile look from Jing An.
"This is... a gathering of humanity to celebrate the arrival of new life."
"Your painting skills are truly... first-rate."
Yu Tang swallowed the snark on the tip of his tongue. He was freeloading in Jing An's house, so he'd better butter up his landlord.
-
"249 has survived so many apocalypses. Isn't that survival rate a little too high? Jing An, don't tell me you've got some kind of ulterior motive!"
The man's companions held him back, preventing him from actually coming to blows with Jing An.
The other Twelve Gods candidates, just as unhappy with Yu Tang's survival rate, also planned to demand an explanation from Jing An. Why was their death rate so high?
"My sense of fairness surpasses the standards of human judgment."
Jing An replied expressionlessly, his voice devoid of emotion, and lowered the number of apocalyptic disasters Yu Tang would face in his next run once again.
It really wasn't fair. Better make it easier.
