After His Wife Dies, the Scumbag Alpha Starts Chasing Him Back

Xie Zhang is a very traditional alpha. He always believed that his future partner would be an omega of the same status as him.

But, to his surprise, his family arranged for him to marry a reserved beta who was eight years older.

They had lived together almost their entire lives in the hope of growing closer, but that only made Xie Zhang more resentful and cutting. After he was forced into marriage upon reaching adulthood, his behavior reached new heights. In short, he had done everything a scumbag could do.

He mocked the beta's scent, saying it was like burning hay, and belittled him in front of everyone.

People said the beta was the marshal's partner, hidden away from public view.

As Xie Zhang grew older, he gradually realized how childish he had been. But his image was already firmly entrenched, and he was too proud to lower himself, leaving him like an ant on a hot pan.

It'll all work out eventually, Xie Zhang reassured himself, hesitating and standing still.

But the ending he got was anything but ordinary.

His partner chose to join the Federation's interstellar exploration program. Without even saying goodbye, he climbed into his mecha and left the planet. Xie Zhang rushed there, only to see his partner's mecha blown to pieces.

His heart could no longer beat violently.

Later, he found the beta again, inside a tightly sealed coffin.

And he discovered that they could never love each other at the same time.

Nor could they even die at the same time.
