Gu Zeshen is a canine alpha, naturally helpful and a little scatterbrained, the very picture of a good-hearted man.
Except that his sense of smell is poor, which occasionally leads to mishaps.
Perhaps because he's so helpful, at twenty-five, despite barely making ends meet himself, Gu Zeshen picks up an eighteen-year-old boy from the roadside. The boy is small and skinny but very handsome. Gu Zeshen jumps to the conclusion that he's an abandoned omega.
He originally plans to take the boy to the relevant authorities to find his family once the heavy snow has passed, but the boy tugs at his sleeve and begs him not to.
The boy says his family is awful, and they're looking for him too. If they take him back, his ill-tempered elders will beat him to death.
Young Gu Zeshen can't bear to hear of anyone suffering like that. He makes a deal with the boy: if his family really wants him back, they'll post a missing-person notice or make inquiries.
That is, if they even care enough to look.
If they don't care what happens to him, then Gu Zeshen will consider himself to have picked up an unrelated little brother, and they'll live together.
When Luo Sheng was young, internal family power struggles led to his exile. If he were ever found and taken back, he would be as good as dead.
Just as he was about to freeze to death in the snow, a canine alpha brought him home. The man was exceptionally kind, and just as exceptionally oblivious. Perhaps his poor sense of smell was to blame, but he never realized Luo Sheng wasn't an omega.
He was a bona fide alpha.
A fox alpha, a rare type even prettier than an omega.
They live together for years. Luo Sheng loves the man's gentle smile and warm body, and he doesn't want to leave at all.
But the people from his past find his trail and attack Gu Zeshen, who has no idea what's going on.
He can't bear it.
One morning, Gu Zeshen wakes up and sees Luo Sheng beside him, the young alpha he raised now tall and muscular. For a moment, he feels lost.
But the fox kisses him and says:
"If you pick up a fox, you're responsible for him for life."
Fox alpha top: cunning, younger, raised by him x canine alpha bottom: gentle, scatterbrained, older
