[Path to Nowhere] Moths to a Flame

"Child, look at her!" My father grabbed me without a word, ignoring my screams as he pried my eyes open. "You have to look at her. Remember her. One day she'll be the greatest dancer in the world!"

I saw lava bubbling in his eyes, black, vile mud rising from the depths of his heart. He was so beside himself he nearly crushed my wrist. He couldn't hear me crying or see me fighting back. Like a statue frozen in place, a devoted believer, he gazed at the stage, entranced.

Unable to look away, I could only stare at her with bloodshot eyes and let the tears fall.

Hamel, I hate you, Hamel.

This is the story of another dancer from Hamel's era. As someone who lived at the same time and worked in the same field, she has a tangle of special and complicated feelings about Hamel. I hope you'll like this girl, too. Please read it like your life depends on it www
