Leng Jiu is the player with the highest survival rate in a certain death game, and is widely recognized as its most dangerous player. He's a walking plague god.
That's because he suffers from severe paranoia and is highly suspicious of everyone.
Going down the stairs, he imagines someone pushing him to his death. When he sleeps, he imagines someone hiding under the bed. Beneath his pillow, he always keeps a bone dagger he has sharpened countless times before bed. He never turns his back on anyone...
The dangers he imagines at any given moment are far more serious than anything he will actually face. He's always one step ahead of death.
On top of that, Leng Jiu's paranoia also comes with severe NPD symptoms. His narcissism is paired with sky-high self-esteem, and he can't accept rejection.
If some unlucky person who doesn't know any better looks at him a little too long, then steps closer or tries to talk to him, there's a very good chance they'll trigger Leng Jiu's narcissism:
"Hey, do you like me?"
If they say no, they die.

#Blurb Two#
Leng Jiu thinks he's a simple person. He simply wants to live and be loved.
In his world, there are no distinctions of gender or strength. Everyone falls into one of two categories: people who want to hurt him, and people who adore him.
Even after being rejected n times, Leng Jiu still doesn't think there's anything wrong with him. He's good-looking and so powerful. How could anyone not like him?
Then one day, while he was running a high-risk dungeon as usual, he ran into a newly risen powerhouse named Ge Zhe. Ge Zhe's ranking had shot up in a short time, making him the new number two, just behind Leng Jiu. His name was on everyone's lips.
And his gaze followed Leng Jiu with burning intensity, completely without reservation.
Everyone there watched with glee. They thought Ge Zhe meant to kill Leng Jiu and claim the number one spot, and waited to enjoy the spectacle of the two fighting to the death.
Sure enough, when Leng Jiu noticed the stare, he walked over. "What are you looking at? Do you like me?"
"No." Ge Zhe's eyes curved into a smile. Just as Leng Jiu thought he'd been rejected and was about to bring down his blade, Ge Zhe said sweetly and plainly, "I love you."
Leng Jiu, his bone knife frozen in midair, and everyone else present:
"..."
"...?"
"!!!"
The look in Ge Zhe's eyes, as if he wanted to take Leng Jiu apart and devour him, was terrifying. Under that stare, Leng Jiu's hair stood on end. For the first time, he wanted to get away from someone.
Damn it! He's definitely a liar if he's being this rash! He's probably planning to build me up before killing me.

When Ge Zhe was forced into the game, he was still a child.
He was frail, withdrawn, and often injured. He didn't know why he'd been chosen for the game, or what he was living for, until he saw Leng Jiu, the number one player, on the big screen.
He had looked up to him ever since he was little.
Later, when he was a little older, Ge Zhe risked his life to enter an SS-rank dungeon above his level, all to see him.
He nearly died, but Leng Jiu saw him. While everyone else stood by and did nothing, Leng Jiu saved him and even spoke to him first.
Though all he said was, "You're filthy, kid. Don't get blood on me."
Ge Zhe knew Leng Jiu wasn't kind, and that he wasn't normal either. But that didn't matter.
Watching people look terrified when faced with Leng Jiu's "Do you like me?" question, Ge Zhe could only think that they didn't know how to appreciate him.
Xiao Jiu was so cute.
For Xiao Jiu, he worked hard to grow up and get stronger, until at last he was qualified to stand by his side.
And qualified to tell Xiao Jiu that he loved him.
Now, watching Xiao Jiu's paranoia flare up in response to his love, Ge Zhe wasn't in a hurry.
It's fine. Ge Zhe turned and left. He had plenty of time to slowly win him over.
